The Land of Israel (Hebrew: אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל). The traditional Jewish name for the Holy Land. Included the holy cities of Hebron, Tiberias, Safed, and Jerusalem. During the era covered in this website, this area was part of the Ottoman Empire. Several important rabbis visited the American colonies from this region.
