Beth Haim

Literally “house of life.” Refers to a Jewish cemetery.

Perhaps the most significant feature of the Amsterdam’s Beth Haim (in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel) and its offshoots in the Jewish Caribbean is their willingness to use relief sculptures of human forms and of divine beings such as cherubs and other objects usually seen as prohibited by Jewish law.
