An indigenous people from the Caribbean who lived in Suriname, Barbados, and many other places. The Europeans considered them to be great warriors. Europeans created stories that the Caribs were cannibals who ate humans, but this idea had been greatly debated by historians. The myth of cannibalism was used as an excuse for killing the Caribs and stealing their land. There are still Caribs today particularly on the island of Dominica in the Caribbean. In 2019, the First Peoples of the Caribbean crowned Nona Aquan as the new Carib Queen in Arima on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago.
