(1812-1870). Born in St George, Elmina in Ghana, Johannes was the son of a local woman named Fanny Ellis and Dutch Governor Abraham De Veer. His half-brother George Severijn de Veer was the first government-secretary in Paramaribo. He married Maria Louisa de Hart. The couple moved to the Netherlands in the 1860s and lived at Herengracht 173 until his death.
