A converso and wealthy merchant who lived in Lima, Peru. Although he was executed by the Inquisition, today scholars debate whether he was actually a crypto-Jew or if jealous rivals just wanted to get his money. (When someone successfully accused another person of heresy, the convicted person lost all their money and possessions. Half went to the church, and half to the person who accused them.)
