Carolina Petronella van de Hart

(1801-1875) Also called “Caro,” she was the mother of Maria Louisa de Hart and wife of Mozes Mijer de Hart. She was born enslaved but eventually Mozes purchased her freedom in February 1827. She and Mozes had 13 children and lived at Waterkant 5. After Mozes’s death, she inherited a large estate including 87 enslaved people who worked on the Sardam Plantation. She died in Paramaribo.
